St. Andrews Presbyterian Church

For 5 weeks this summer, our church hosted well-known speakers from Benzie County to speak about what makes this area special.  Jon Hawley spoke about Point Betsie Lighthouse.  Tom Doak and Mike DeVries explored their careers as golf course architects.  Jerry Slater lectured on local history and the Benzie museum.  Wes Blizzard showed us his work as a potter and his passion for teaching arts to youth.  Maryanne Hendricks shared about sustainable gardening and Grow Benzie.

I want to thank everyone whose hard work made this summer series possible.  In particular, I want to thank those people who cooked and cleaned, those who planned and organized, those who led Gathering games and children’s activities, those folks who played music and preached.

It’s been a joy to explore with you the idea of a mid-week service.  The planning team will consider how we can build on this idea next summer.
